Behind The Song: Home Turf by Zische | The Real Story
A lot of people hear Home Turf and think it’s just a confidence record. But the song actually came from reflecting on my journey over the last few years.
There were times people doubted me, times when progress was slower than I wanted, times when it would have been easier to quit. But every challenge taught me something. Every setback made me better.
When I wrote the line “Many said I couldn’t, I did it,” I wasn’t trying to brag. I was talking about proving to myself that I could keep going when things got difficult.
The song is also about taking pride in where you come from — whether that’s your city, your community, your family, or the skills you’ve spent years developing. Everybody has a home turf. Everybody has a place where they’ve put in the work.
The “30 points up on the board” line is about keeping score against your own goals. Showing up every day and stacking small wins until they become something bigger.
Home Turf is the soundtrack for anyone who’s building something, chasing a goal, and refusing to let doubt decide their future.
